Dr. Cigarroa has led The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio during a period of explosive growth that has expanded medical education in every area.

In accepting the award, Mrs. Cigarroa said, “Francisco and I are so honored to receive this award. Unfortunately, my husband could not be here tonight, but he asked me to relay the following message: The Health Science Center and the Child Guidance Center have a very special partnership that spans three decades. Because of the Child Guidance Center, not only do our students and residents receive valuable training, but together we bring much-needed mental health care to families throughout San Antonio. I commend you for your extraordinary service and look forward to many more successful years of partnership.”

She added, “Children are at the heart of our community. It has been a wonderful experience to work with so many organizations throughout our state to make the lives of children happy and healthy. We look forward to continuing our work together to make the future for all children a bright one.”
