The office of external affairs, in coordination with the office of the president, will host a town hall meeting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, in 3.104A (Pestana lecture hall), to preview the new branding architecture being proposed by The Atkins Group, the agency hired to lead The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in its branding initiative.
Health Science Center team and survey results to be revealedAt this town hall, Steve Atkins and his team will first share the findings of the nine strategic conversations the agency conducted with 147 members of the Health Science Center team composed of faculty, staff, administrators, students and practice-plan representatives (at the main, Laredo and Harlingen campuses). Results of the random-household phone survey, conducted in English and Spanish, in Bexar County, Laredo, Harlingen and Edinburg, will also be discussed.
“We thank everyone who participated in the research phase. Through your earnest and open contributions, we learned valuable information regarding existing perceptions and attitudes about our university, its position in the community and the value it contributes,” said Mary Etlinger DeLay, chief of staff and communications at the Health Science Center.
Proposed Health Science Center logo to be unveiled“Secondly, based on the findings of this research, The Atkins Group will present the first pieces of their proposed creative package. These items will include a logo, tag line and other visual identifiers that will serve to bring a cohesive unity to the visual identity of our Health Science Center, while differentiating our institution from other entities with which it is frequently confused,” DeLay explained.
Web page templates on the wayFollowing the town hall meeting, the brand package will be polished and presented for approval by the Board of Regents of The U.T. System. Once approved, during the months of August through November, The Atkins Group will continue to amplify the package, developing a style guide/graphics manual for use in print communications (stationery/brochures) and templates for Web pages, all of which will help to bring a familial look to all communications and marketing pieces across the schools, campuses, institutes and programs of the university.
Your input counts“Please join us at this July 18 town hall meeting” DeLay said. “We look forward to gathering your input, gaining from your perspective and requesting your help as we roll out this campaign later this fall.”
Videoconference informationThis presentation will be video-conferenced to Laredo (Room 2.200), and in Harlingen (1.100 auditorium front-half RAHC).
