A postdoctoral fellow and two graduate students from the Department of Pharmacology received travel awards to make presentations at the 37th annual Society for Neuroscience (SfN) annual meeting Nov. 3 through 7 in San Diego, Calif.

Alexandre Seillier, Ph.D., was selected as a recipient of the SfN Postdoctoral Trainee Travel Award to present his research, “Characterization of the endocannabinoid system in the sub-chronic PCP rat model of schizophrenia.” Dr. Seillier works in the laboratory of Andrea Giuffrida, Ph.D., assistant professor of pharmacology.
Corina Bondi, fifth-year graduate student, also received a travel award to attend the annual SfN meeting. Bondi was presented the award, which is supported by Eli Lilly & Co., by the Committee on Women in Neuroscience. She was among 15 chosen for this honor out of more than 200 applicants and will present her research, “Performance on an attentional set-shifting test induces fos expression in rat prefrontal cortex.” She works in the laboratory of David Morilak, Ph.D., professor of pharmacology.

Jacob Garza, a fourth-year graduate student, received a graduate student travel award from Eli Lilly & Co. The award is designed to recognize the promising work of graduate students who have been nominated by their local chapters for excellence in neuroscience. Garza will present “RNAi-mediated silencing of the melanocortin-4 receptor in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus increases food intake and body weight.” He works in the laboratory of Xin-Yun Lu, Ph.D., assistant professor of pharmacology.
