The fourth annual Dental School Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 25, at SilverHorn Golf Club, 1100 W. Bitters Road. Tee time is 8 a.m.
The golf tournament is a major fundraiser for the Dental School. “This tournament is so important to the Dental School because it raises money for scholarships. We truly appreciate the support of our faculty, alumni and other community members through this tournament,” said William Dodge, D.D.S., vice dean of the Dental School, who has served on the Golf Tournament Committee since its inception.
Golfers of all ability levels and handicaps are welcome to play. Last year’s event raised $12,000 for scholarships. More than $25,000 has been raised over the past three years. “Each year a portion of the proceeds goes into an endowment fund, which now stands at $10,000,” added Sara Piety, director of development for the Dental School.
The registration fee of $165 includes green fees, practice balls and a shared cart, as well as breakfast and an awards luncheon. Each year, faculty, alumni and friends also are invited to sponsor a current dental student to play in the tournament.
