SAN ANTONIO (June 24, 2009) — South Texas Technology Management (STTM), which serves four University of Texas institutions including The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, today announced $164,000 in seed money for eight research projects that have the potential to one day move research discoveries into commercialization.

The projects cover an array of topics, from more effectively providing acute treatment for stroke to a sensor for emergency telephones to enable automatic communication with security staff during emergencies.

STTM reviews research proposals from faculty inventors at the Health Science Center, The University of Texas at San Antonio, UT-Pan American at Edinburg and UT Brownsville.
