On Tuesday, Sept. 8, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio unveiled a new Web site to help the Health Science Center community, physicians and the public become better educated about the seasonal and novel H1N1 flu.
The Web site,
http://fluinfo.uthscsa.edu/, was developed by a multidisciplinary task force led by Jan Patterson, M.D., professor of medicine (infectious diseases) and pathology, and director of the Center for Patient Safety and Health Policy. President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, recently appointed Dr. Patterson to lead the Health Science Center’s efforts in educating the community about the flu.
“I thank Dr. Jan Patterson and the entire Health Science Center task force for their efforts,” Dr. Henrich said. “This Web site will serve as the ‘go to’ place for all information about the seasonal and novel H1N1 flu and will be updated during the season as the situation evolves. I encourage you to visit this site and inform yourself, your colleagues, friends and family about how to prevent the spread of the flu this season.”
The Web site includes:
- Information about how to prevent the flu, flu symptoms and what to do if you get the flu
- Links to frequently updated information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Texas Department of State Health Services and other resources
- Grand Rounds mediasite presentations for physicians
- Information for Health Science Center employees and students regarding flu shots and reporting absences
