The Cancer Therapy & Research Center at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio will benefit from four shopping events in October.
Three of the events are associated with the Saks Fifth Avenue San Antonio 2009 Key to the Cure Campaign, which will benefit the CTRC’s Gynecological Oncology Program. They include a month-long sale of a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Michael Kors and modeled by Heidi Klum, a Key to the Cure shopping weekend at Saks and sales of the T-shirts on two Health Science Center campuses.
The fourth event is the sale of the Cancer Center Council’s (CCC) Partners Shopping Card featuring a 20 percent discount at more than 400 retailers. The shopping card raises funds for CTRC’s Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic during the 25th anniversary of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
Key to the Cure T-Shirt sales Saks Fifth Avenue San Antonio will begin offering the limited-edition T-shirts on Oct. 1. Eighty percent of the $40 charged will benefit the CTRC.
Through CTRC’s Gynecology Oncology Program, a dedicated team of scientists and clinicians conducts research and provides comprehensive cancer treatment to women with cancer of the reproductive tract, such as the ovaries, cervix and uterus.
Key to the Cure Shopping WeekendSaks at North Star Mall will donate 2 percent of its sales during the Key to the Cure shopping days — Thursday, Oct. 15, through Sunday, Oct. 18 — to CTRC.
Partners Shopping CardThe Partners Shopping Card, featuring a 20 percent discount from more than 400 retailers, sells for $50, with 100 percent of the card sales going to the Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic at CTRC. The discount applies during the last 10 days of October, from Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 1.
The breast cancer clinic offers convenient, comprehensive cancer care for patients. Patients visiting the clinic are seen by their specialists at one location, simplifying their doctor visits. The clinic also provides a centralized physician work room, large consultation rooms and education suites so that surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and other specialists can more easily meet to discuss their patients’ care.
The
CCC Web site lists the participating retailers. Order cards online or by phone at (210) 450-5571. The deadline is Oct. 1 to order cards by mail. Most of the retailers sell the Partners Shopping Card at their locations.
The Partners Shopping Card has raised more than $1.3 million for CTRC over the past nine years. The CCC has more than 600 active members who support the CTRC, not just through fundraising, but also through volunteer service, patient assistance and community outreach.
