Short tempers, a difficult classmate, stress about grades and marital problems are just a few situations that could escalate into violence on campus.
Whether it’s an emergency situation or a campus closure due to severe weather, HSC Alert could save your life.
HSC Alert is one of several existing methods that the Health Science Center has in place to alert the university community to an emergency situation. Those who sign up will receive text and/or e-mail messages about campus emergencies and closings. No other messages are sent through the system, and the only charge is the usual fee for receiving a text message from your phone carrier.
A test of the HSC Alert system is set for Oct. 9, so now is the time to enroll in HSC Alert or, if you have already signed up, to verify that the e-mail addresses and phone numbers you have designated are still current.
How to sign up or check your designationsTo sign up for HSC Alert or to check your HSC Alert designations, sign in on the portal (
http://inside.uthscsa.edu) and follow the instructions in the HSC Alert Section.
If you need assistance with the process, call (210) 567-7777 and choose option 2.
