The four presidents of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio will be honored at noon on Thursday, Nov. 5, at a Presidents’ Reception, to be held in the Health Science Center Auditorium on the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus.
All faculty, staff, students and retirees are invited to attend.
The honoreesHonored at the celebration will be:
- President Frank Harrison, M.D., Ph.D., president from 1972 to 1985
- President John P. Howe III, M.D., president from 1985-2000
- President Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., president from 2000-2009, before being named in February chancellor of The University of Texas System
- President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, the newest Health Science Center president
In addition to honoring the four presidents, the event will launch the newest chapter in the story of the UT Health Science Center under the leadership of President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, who was named president earlier this year.
New Health Science Center history book to be unveiledThe reception will also provide the opportunity to buy the brand new Health Science Center history book, “The Crown Jewel: The Story of the First 50 years of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.”
The book, celebrating the Health Science Center’s first 50 years and three presidents, will be available for purchase for $28, plus tax. A special edition leatherette-bound copy of the book, signed by the four presidents, will also be available for $60, plus tax. Both editions of the book will go on sale in the university bookstore following the reception. Orders will be accepted in person or by calling (210) 567-2841.
