A test of the HSC Alert notification system will be held on April 9. HSC Alert is one of several methods The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio uses to advise faculty, staff and students about campus emergencies or weather-related closings.
HSC Alert sends text messages and e-mail notices to those who have enrolled in the HSC Alert system.
“In light of violent behavior on other university campuses, I encourage you to take this opportunity to sign up for HSC Alert or re-check the cell phone and e-mail addresses you may have already designated,” said President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP.
“We are fortunate that we have not had a major emergency on our campuses, but we would like to be able to contact you if there ever is,” he said.
HSC Alert is only used to disseminate information about emergencies or campus closures. The only charge associated with HSC Alert is the normal fee charged by your cell phone carrier to receive a text message.
To enroll, sign in on the Health Science Center portal (
