The State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) will be held Aug. 30-Oct.1, with Mary Henrich serving again as this year’s honorary chair.

The SECC gives state employees the opportunity to contribute funds to more than 500 agencies and organizations, including local charities and statewide, national and international groups. A number of organizations are connected to the Health Science Center through service-learning activities, research or patient services.

“Making lives better is at the heart of the Health Science Center,” said Henrich, the wife of President William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP. “We have all witnessed what a difference one person can make in the life of an individual, family or cause. I am honored to be working with all of you to raise much-needed funds through the SECC for those in our community who need it the most.”

In about a week, departmental coordinators will be contacting all employees to provide information about the campaign, including instructions on how to use the SECC website to designate pledges.

Throughout the campaign, Health Science Center publications will feature faculty, staff, students and residents who volunteer with various SECC agencies to give an inside view of services that are provided. If you volunteer for an agency or have been helped by one and would like to share your story, please contact Rosanne Fohn, 210-567-3079.

“From the Red Cross to the Food Bank, the SECC is a valuable resource for so many organizations. To continue with important services that these agencies provide, they need our ongoing support. Please take time to consider making a contribution to a worthwhile organization,” Henrich said.
