By Rosanne FohnThe UT Health Science Center San Antonio’s new Employee Health and Wellness Clinic is now open, and appointments can be made by calling 210-567-2788.
The clinic, located in the School of Nursing’s southern building, room 1.445, is next to the Student Health Center. The clinic offers comprehensive wellness and health promotion services including:
- Primary health care
- Minor occupational injury and illness care
- Immunizations
- Tuberculosis surveillance and prophylactic treatment
- Respirator medical evaluations
- Audiometry and hearing conservation services
- Smoking cessation
- Healthy weight management
- Annual health exams
A lab draw station will be added in December.
“Our objective is to offer a comprehensive range of primary health care services to Health Science Center employees, in cooperation with our colleagues at UT Medicine San Antonio and the Office of Environmental Health & Safety,” said Julie Novak, D.N.Sc., RN, M.A., CPNP, FAANP.
Clinic team Dr. Novak, who is associate dean for practice and engagement, directs the School of Nursing’s clinical enterprise, which includes the Employee Health and Wellness Clinic and the Student Health Center. She designed the clinic with Reuben Pinkson, an architect in Facilities Management.
The Employee Health and Wellness Clinic team includes lead staff nurse practitioner Bridget Slattery, M.S.N., FNP, and faculty nurse practitioners Holly Dileo, Ph.D., RN, FNP-BC, and Candace Tull, M.S.N., RN, WHNP-BC. Two more staff nurse practitioners will be added Dec. 2.

The clinic also has two nurses who completed graduate fellowships with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health: Rebecca Stenberg, RN, M.N., COHN-S, occupational health nurse, and Rebecca Grizzle, Ph.D., RN, NP-C, assistant professor/clinical, employee health and wellness specialist. Rebecca Gutierrez manages the clinics and Maria Shaw serves as receptionist and medical assistant.
Miguel Ramirez-Colon, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor/clinical in the Department of Family & Community Medicine, is the collaborating physician.
In July, Dr. Novak secured a $300,000 Health Resources and Services Administration electronic health record technology grant for nurse-managed clinics. The system will be added in January.
The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
