Beginning Sept. 22, the procedure changed regarding the permission to send e-mail announcements and electronic newsletters to all faculty and staff.
“Instead of multiple e-mails being sent throughout the week to all faculty, staff and students that may or may not apply to everyone, we are instituting
HSC Express, an e-mail to be sent weekly to all faculty, staff and students which will highlight announcements, invitations and newsletters of the widest interest.
The e-mail will link readers to the announcements and news items posted on the
UT Health Science Center portal in the
HSC Express section,” said Mary DeLay, chief of staff and chief communications officer.
This change is occurring for a number of reasons:
- Many have asked that nonessential e-mails be reduced;
- The portal is the place to go for campus news. Most e-mails that are sent to all faculty and staff are posted there, as well as a wealth of other information, including stories about honors received, upcoming events and photos of interest to the campus community;
- The portal is updated regularly so that readers will have a reason to come back; and
- Fewer e-mails sent to all faculty and staff will help prevent slow-downs in the Health Science Center’s e-mail system, as has recently occurred.
Submit your announcementsYou can help facilitate this shift to a more user-friendly mode of communication by sending your PDF fliers, invitations and announcements that would be of interest to a large majority of Health Science Center faculty, staff and students to
HSC Express, using the subject line
HSC Express. Items will be posted frequently, and those received by noon each Thursday will be considered for the following week’s
HSC Express e-mail to all faculty and staff.
Please review the
HSC Express submission guidelines for more information.
