By Rosanne FohnThere are now two helpful resources available to the UT Health Science Center San Antonio community to enhance participation in social media.
The
Social Media Toolkit was developed to help schools, departments, clinics and centers consider, plan and implement social media efforts on behalf of the university.
Earlier this year, the
Social Media Directory was launched, which provides a listing of social media channels associated with the Health Science Center. You can also find the Social Media Directory listed under “Directories” on the Health Science Center’s main webpage and in the Quick Links section of the portal.
Reach out to new audiences through social media“Social media offer us unprecedented opportunities to reach out to new audiences and collaborators, participate in new conversations, and listen to new sources of input and feedback. They have become critical professional tools for us as a university, so we encourage you to make the most of them,” said Luke Rosenberger, on behalf of the Social Media Subcommittee of the Computing Resource Committee.
“As time goes on, more and more departments across the Health Science Center will be joining the movement into social media,” he said. “We want to encourage you to reach out to your colleagues on social media, ‘follow’ or ‘like’ them, learn how they are using social media, and help them spread their messages as appropriate to your audience.”
Network with colleagues at bimonthly PrISM meetings To network with other Health Science Center colleagues who are interested in or are using social media professionally at the university, attend a meeting of a group called PrISM (Professional Interest in Social Media), which meets bimonthly on campus. The next PrISM meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 28. You can learn more about PrISM by visiting
http://prismsa.wordpress.com.
“If there’s anyone else in your department who is involved in administering social media channels, please feel free to pass along this information. Also, if you know of official social media channels that we have not yet included in the Social Media Directory or key personnel we may not have contacted, feel free to e-mail
socialmedia@uthscsa.edu so we can update our contact lists accordingly,” Rosenberger said.
