Family, community medicine Research Day is Friday

The Health Science Center community is invited to attend Research Day, hosted by the department of family and community medicine, noon Friday, May 7, in Room 309L in the School of Medicine.

Kurt Stange, M.D., Ph.D., professor of family medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics and sociology, at Case Western Reserve University will present “Towards a Basic Science of Generalist Practice” at the 12:30 p.m. lecture.

Dr. Stange is the editor of Annals of Family Medicine and received the 1999 and 2002 Award for Best Published Family Medicine Paper from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the immediate past president of the North American Primary Care Research Group. He also serves as associate director for prevention, control and population research at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Lunch will be provided at noon and a faculty research poster session will follow the lecture at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium foyer. The lecture is sponsored by the South Texas Regional Family Medicine Grand Rounds, the Dr. John M. Smith, Jr. Visiting Professorship in Family Medicine Research and the department of family and community medicine.
