The Innovative Teaching Grants (ITG) program provides start-up grants to support faculty efforts to develop, implement and evaluate innovative educational techniques for their students. The ITG program provides financial support in the range of $2,500 to $10,000 per project.

The ITG are awarded on a competitive basis. Applications for the 2004 awards are due June 15. The Academic Informatics Services (AIS) Advisory Committee, which is comprised of faculty representatives from all five schools and academic support units, reviews the applications and selects the projects to be funded.

ITG awards have been used for a variety of projects including developing computer-based learning modules, Web-based courses, pilot testing new strategies to evaluate student competence and conducting research to measure the effectiveness of educational strategies. Since 1996, 40 Health Science Center faculty have received ITG awards.

To obtain an ITG application, contact Marcia Isaacs at (210) 567-2284 or send her an e-mail at isaacsm@uthscsa.edu.
