C. Lynn Hurst, D.D.S., M.S., clinical associate professor in the department of orthodontics and program director for the orthodontic residency program, has been selected for a fellowship in the American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) Leadership Institute Class of 2005.
The ADEA’s Leadership Institute is a year-long fellowship designed to develop the nation’s most promising dental faculty into the future leaders of dental and higher education. Through four phases, fellows engage in a variety of assessments to guide their professional development. The institute features sessions on leadership theory, team building, communications, public policy, managing change, educational policy, legal issues, research, budgeting and financial management. The 2005 class has 21 fellows.
Dr. Hurst is a member of and actively involved in: Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the San Antonio District Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, and the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation for Orthodontic Research. In 1993, he completed phase III of board certification in orthodontics, achieving the status of diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and in 2003, was one of only 30 orthodontists to be recertified as a diplomate. He was recently honored as a recipient of the Schudy-Creekmore Research Award presented by the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists.
