Manali Ayachit Shendrikar, M.D., a 2001 graduate of the School of Medicine, has become a reality TV star. No, she isn’t the next “Survivor,” but she’s definitely starring in a true story of perseverance and survival.
Dr. Shendrikar will be featured in the Discovery Health Channel’s new reality series “The Residents,” which airs locally on cable channel 44. The episode in which Dr. Shendrikar will be featured is titled “Prescription: Compassion” and will air at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 30.
The series chronicles the stressful, high-stakes world of a group of first-year medical residents as they work at the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center. Emmy award-winning producer and director R.J. Cutler is the series creator.
The program follows Dr. Shendrikar and other residents as they treat patients, some with life-threatening illnesses, encounter difficult situations and learn life-long lessons along the way.
