South Texas Research Facility
|
The landscape of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio campus and the South Texas Medical Center is quickly evolving into a dynamic panorama of unparalleled scientific discovery. At the center of this transformation is the South Texas Research Facility (STRF).
Construction is well under way on the impressive three-story, 190,000-square-foot building, with completion scheduled for fall of 2011. Once finished, the STRF will house the Health Science Center’s growing research enterprise that will accelerate the translation of basic research discoveries into new treatments and cures that will save lives. With the addition of the STRF, the Health Science Center’s impact on the future of health will be more powerful and far-reaching than ever before.
The robust research environment at the STRF will complement the Health Science Center’s patient-centered facilities nearby including the Medical Arts & Research Center (MARC), the new home for the School of Medicine’s clinical practice UT Medicine San Antonio, as well as the Cancer Therapy & Research Center (CTRC).
This magnificent new facility will provide the best laboratories and resources where faculty scientists and students will conduct lifesaving research on diseases such as cancer, a variety of disorders that affect the elderly and others.
