MED ED | A UTHSCSA PROGRAM

APPLICATION PROCESS  |  WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?

Med Ed Program applications are available online year-round for downloading. You may also request a paper application from your high school counselor or by contacting the Med Ed Program office nearest you. A complete application includes: the application form (with all required signatures), copy of high school transcript (8th and 9th graders may submit a copy of their middle school report card), and complete essay. Once your Med Ed Program application is received, the evaluation process takes approximately one week. You will be notified via mail of the admission committee’s decision. It is our goal that once students are accepted to the Med Ed Program, they will continue to be active participants throughout high school, college, professional school, and eventually serve as professional mentors for future aspiring Med Ed Program participants.

PARTICIPATION CRITERIA  |  WHAT IS REQUIRED FROM ME AS STUDENT?

While you are under no obligation to participate in all Med Ed Program activities, we do require that you attend at least one academic or professional development activity per semester to remain on the active student list. Students will have the option of fulfilling their participation requirement one of two ways:

  • Traditional - registering for and attending a regularly scheduled Med Ed workshop
  • Correspondence - contacting the Med Ed office to request workshop materials and submitting course assignments by mail or email.

If you are unable to meet this requirement, please contact a program coordinator to discuss your situation.
