COGS Overview

The Committee on Graduate Studies administers the Graduate Program in Microbiology & Immunology. This committee, consisting of members of the Microbiology & Immunology Graduate School Faculty, coordinates activities in the Microbiology & Immunology Graduate Program and acts on such matters as evaluation of program applicants, assessment of student progress, assignment of Supervising Professors, changes in curriculum, mediation of disputes between students and Supervising Professors and other pertinent policy considerations including changes to the guidelines, requirements, and expectations of the program.

The Chair of COGS is responsible for monitoring the progress of students, for advising students on their overall curriculum plans and their compliance with departmental guidelines, and for facilitating two-way communications between students and COGS. The Chair of COGS is also called the Graduate Advisor and is an important resource for students.

The Admissions Coordinator is that member of COGS responsible for the processing and distribution of student applications to the graduate program, for all communications between the program and candidates applying to the program, and for orientation activities provided to the incoming class.

Either the Chair of COGS or the Admissions Coordinator may be reached at batilla@uthscsa.edu.
