Parking:  Students who park vehicles on campus are required to buy a parking permit at a minimum cost of $72 per year. 

Nonresident tuition:

Nonresident graduate students employed as graduate or teaching assistants qualify to pay tuition at the resident rate.

Stipend

All incoming Microbiology graduate students are given a stipend provided by the department. The current amount of the stipend is comparable to those offered by other institutions and is listed in Peterson's Guide, and is currently expected to be approximately $26,000 per year. Once a student has chosen a thesis advisor, that faculty member is expected to provide the student with the full support using funds from research and teaching assistantships, fellowships or from NIH Training Grants. 

Financial Aid

Although the vast majority of microbiology graduate students find the stipend offered more than adequate, if additional financial aid is required, assessment of the financial needs of individuals is made by the Financial Aid Office once the student is accepted for admission. The Financial Aid Office will contact individuals upon their acceptance for admission to give them an opportunity to apply for financial assistance. Various programs are in place to assist any student with financial needs. The Financial Aid Office works to bridge the gap between the student's actual resources and his or her demonstrated need by locating sources of funds and providing emergency assistance when necessary to assure that the student is able to complete his or her education. 

Nonresident (out-of-state) students are eligible for all forms of financial aid because most programs are federally funded or regulated. Generally, international (foreign) students are not eligible for traditional forms of financial aid.
