Open rank faculty positions - Immunopathogenesis of infectious disease

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio invites applications for tenure track/tenured faculty positions at the Associate or Full Professor level. Outstanding individuals at the Assistant Professor level are also encouraged to apply. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a highly collaborative department with ongoing research and training programs in bacterial and viral pathogenesis and two existing Cooperative Research Centers investigating sexually transmitted infection and airway disease. The department provides excellent resources including newly renovated BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facilities and access to high quality core facilities. Successful applicants will receive newly renovated laboratory space and a highly competitive start-up package. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and will be expected to have and maintain a high quality extramurally funded research program. Applicants will participate in graduate student training and medical/dental/graduate school teaching. Individuals with expertise in the immunopathogenesis of viral or bacterial pulmonary infections or sexually transmitted disease are especially encouraged to apply but strong applicants researching any aspect of immunobiology will be considered. Special emphasis will be placed on individuals who have previously led collaborative research efforts.

Postdoctoral research position (Department of Microbiology & Immunology, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio)

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. David Kadosh at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Research will focus on mechanisms that determine Candida albicans morphology and virulence in response to host environmental cues (for additional details see Carlisle, et al., PNAS 106:599-604 (2009), Banerjee et al., MBC 19:1354-1365 (2008) and http://www.uthscsa.edu/micro/faculty/dk/dk.asp ). Many opportunities are available for collaboration with both basic and clinical mycologists at the San Antonio Center for Medical Mycology (see http://www.sacmm.org/). This group represents one of the largest mycology centers in the U.S. and includes 15 laboratories working on a variety of topics in fungal pathogenesis. Individuals with previous experience in molecular biology (including transcriptional regulation and genomics), cell biology, genetics, protein chemistry or fungal pathogenesis are especially encouraged to apply.
