Q. Do I have to take the GRE/TOEFL before I can apply?
A. You may submit your application, transcripts, and letters of recommendation for evaluation, but they cannot be officially considered complete until all test scores are received.
Q. Who can answer my questions about admission requirements, research opportunities, etc. of the program?
A. The Applicant Advisor for the Microbiology Graduate Program can provide such information. You should contact the departmental office of the Microbiology Program and ask to speak to the Academic Coordinator or the Graduate Applicant Advisor (210-567-3952). Q. When will I know if I am eligible for an assistantship position?
A. Unless other arrangements have been made, all candidates accepted for admission into the Microbiology Graduate Program can expect to be provided with financial support (see Peterson's Guide for current levels).
Q. Whom should I contact after I have applied to check on the status of my application and whether I am still being considered for admission?
A. You should contact the Microbiology Graduate Program. The Applicant Advisor will have that information.
Q. May I enroll as a Special Student in the Graduate School to take course work which might enhance my chances of being accepted into the Microbiology Graduate Program?
A. Yes. Students wishing to strengthen their application to Graduate School are encouraged to enroll as Special Students for purposes of taking graduate level courses. These students should contact the Microbiology Graduate Program gsbsinquiry@uthscsa.edu for advice and additional information.
