Research interests:
Coccidioidomycosis is a fungal infection caused by two species of fungi in the Coccidioides genus which is endemic to arid deserts of the Americas. Typical infection begins with the inhalation of aerosolized spores. Infected individuals may present with a wide range of disease severity ranging from mild and flu-like to disseminated. My research focuses on the innate immune response to coccidioidomycosis via natural killer cells (NK cells). Additionally, I am investigating immuno-modulation of the adaptive immune response to Coccidioides infection by innate immune cell expression of cytokines.
