In a rare procedure, Dr. Simpson placed a plate at the top and the bottom of Justin Stigents Adams apple. He also crocheted a reinforcing system of sutures to repair the cricoid cartilage. "Laryngeal trauma is very rare. I only see two or three cases a year," Dr. Simpson said. "There arent too many ways you can fracture your Adams apple, but Justins was the classic injury."
