Bartter research center celebrates grant, 20th anniversary

The Frederic C. Bartter General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) celebrated its 20th anniversary this year with a $500,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Research Resources (NCRR). The grant will fund a new imaging core. The GCRC imaging core is the only one of its kind in Texas and one of seven funded by NCRR in the United States.

"The imaging core will create great new opportunities for the Health Science Center clinical research community that dramatically expand the scope of clinical research possibilities and opens doors to new avenues of funding," said Robin Brey, M.D., professor of neurology and an associate program director for the GCRC. The GCRC is a joint venture between the Health Science Center, the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and the NCRR.
