February 2003 Nicolas E. Walsh, M.D., attended the endorsement of the Bone and Joint Decade (BJD) by the Chinese government in Beijing. The BJD is a 10-year, international effort to increase awareness about musculoskeletal disorders such as bone and joint disease, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain and spinal disorders. It is sanctioned by the United Nations and the World Health Organization and endorsed by many nations and President Bush. Dr. Walsh is a professor and chairman of rehabilitation medicine and is one of 13 members on the international steering committee for the Bone and Joint Decade. While in China, he presented a lecture on spinal disorders.
