New Orthodontic Clinic opens at Health Science Center
by Natalie Gutierrez The new Orthodontic Clinic at the Health Science Center celebrated its grand opening in March. The 2,500-square-foot facility houses the orthodontic residency program and the orthodontic faculty practice program. The clinic features state-of-the-art, 17-inch, flat-screen monitors at each of the 16 patient chairs. The monitors allow orthodontists to access and view a patient’s records, photos and X-rays without having to leave a patient’s side."Our entire patient database is digital," said C. Lynn Hurst, D.D.S., M.S., clinical associate professor and director of the orthodontic residency program. "I am confident our orthodontic program is on the cutting edge of technology and education. Our faculty and residents are fortunate to have access to the latest technology and resources, which in turn allows them to provide the best orthodontic care for patients." "This is an exciting time for the faculty and staff of the department of orthodontics and the people of South Texas, who will benefit from this new residency program and clinic," said John Rugh, Ph.D., chair of the department of orthodontics at the Health Science Center.
