August 2002 The Health Science Center congratulates the School of Medicine 2002 Distinguished Alumnus, David R. Schmidt, M.D., and the School of Nursing 2002 Distinguished Alumna, Yolanda R. Davila, Ph.D. Dr. Schmidt is an orthopaedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of San Antonio and is the San Antonio Spurs team physician. Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., Health Science Center president, presented the award to Dr. Schmidt at a dinner in his honor. Dr. Davila is assistant professor of chronic nursing care at the Health Science Center. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing degrees, as well as her Ph.D., from Health Science Center. The School of Nursing honored Dr. Davila during commencement exercises. Related Stories
