September 2012 by Natalie Gutierrez Ed Rapier, 79, loves to shoot hoops, golf and exercise regularly. In February this year, while hiking down a mountain trail in Manzanillo, Mexico, Rapier tore a muscle in his left knee. He was treated by Matthew Murray, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon with UT Medicine San Antonio, the clinical practice of the Health Science Center’s School of Medicine. Thanks to Dr. Murray’s specialized skills - and UT Medicine Physical Therapy Services at the Medical Arts & Research Center (MARC) - Rapier is back to the activities he loves. He represents the seniors who benefit from the research and compassionate care of UT Health Science Center scientists and physicians who make lives better.
