October 2002 The Dental School welcomes James B. Summitt, D.D.S., as the new chair of the department of restorative dentistry. Dr. Summitt has served as interim chair since 2000. "I am proud to be able to work with a department with such a dedicated faculty and staff," Dr. Summitt said. "I plan to continue to work toward a totally evidence-based curriculum and to help generate evidence in areas where it does not already exist." Prior to joining the Health Science Center faculty 13 years ago, Dr. Summitt was director of dental services at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1989.
