Children's cancer
warning signs

"Some people think that kids can't get cancer," said Steven D. Weitman, MD, PhD, assistant professor of pediatrics. "They can, and it's important to have yearly checkups."

Some children's cancer warning signs are:
  • a lump or bump that won't go away

  • weight loss

  • a change in activities--especially less activity

  • bruising or bleeding

Malignant tumors and leukemia can strike children of every age, added Dr. Weitman, even those less than a year old.
