More than 50 events honoring the health Science Center's 25th anniversary
were held throughout the region.State Sen. Judith Zaffirini and Judge
Cyndi Taylor Krier help kick off the Health Science Center's 25th anniversary at an October luncheon.
Gov. George W. Bush was keynote speaker at a spring luncheon honoring the Health Science Center. Welcoming him were Jocelyn L. Straus, president of the Health Science Center's Development Board, and Joe R. Straus, Jr., chairman of Retama Entertainment Group.
During his speech Gov. Bush said, "The Health Science Center is a standard of excellence and innovation as it brings health and hope to Texas and the world." He is shown with Gen. (L-R) J. Tullos Wells, co-chairman of the Health Science Center's President's Council; Marilyn S. Rowland, MD, co-chairman of the President's Council, were among the presenters and award winners at the appreciation dinner for the President's Council and major donors.

Faculty and staff at the Health Science Center celebrated the 25th anniversary in July with fajitas, cold drinks and cakes decorated especially for the occasion.
