Distinguished chair in aging research created by Halsell Foundation
The Ewing Halsell Foundation of San Antonio has pledged $1 million to the Health Science Center for creation of a new Distinguished Chair in Aging Research.
The contribution is the most recent of many gifts from the foundation dating from the Health Science Center’s earliest days in the 1970s.
Over the past decade, the Health Science Center has developed one of the pre-eminent research programs in aging and geriatrics in the nation. More than 100 faculty members are actively involved in biomedical and clinical research related to aging. Projects range from molecular genetics of aging to health care issues for the elderly.
The Ewing Halsell Foundation is a charitable trust created in 1957 by cattle rancher Ewing Halsell and supports educational, cultural, environmental and other projects to benefit Texas and Texans.
