Delivering reconstructive surgical care

Joel E. Pessa, MD (right), assistant professor and director of plastic and reconstructive surgery’s section of cleft and craniofacial surgery; Jaime R. Garza, MD, DDS (center), assistant professor and division head of plastic and reconstructive surgery; and Bram R. Kaufman, MD (left), assistant professor, chief of the hand and microsurgery unit, with other Health Science Center dentists and surgeons, deliver reconstructive surgical care to children and adults of South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. By correcting cranio-maxillofacial (head and face) anomalies and hand deformities, this multidisciplinary team gives patients an opportunity to live higher-quality lives. The team plans to expand treatment to correct deformities of other areas of the body with the addition of orthopaedic and pediatric surgeons.
