Mission

One liver for two patients

One donor liver, two desperately ill patients—with the transplantation team at the Health Science Center and an innovative split-liver procedure, both a 6-month-old infant and a 55-year-old man are living success stories. The two surgeries marked the second such split-liver procedure in South Texas. (L-R) Francisco G. Cigarroa, MD, meets with Angelica Camacho, mother of the infant recipient, Nathaniel Morua; Freddie Hodges, adult recipient; Glenn A. Halff, MD; and Robert M. Esterl, MD.
