Fourth Year Residents

photo of Dr. Drever Nathan S. Drever — Dr. N. Drever completed his baccalaureate in biology at the University of Texas in Austin. He then attended medical school at the UTHSCSA, earning his M.D. degree in 2005. Dr. Drever was awarded the Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. His hobbies include outdoors activities such as fishing, hunting, skiing, as well as cooking and spending time with his wife and family.

 

photo of Dr. Poornima KaulPoornima Kaul — Dr. P. Kaul was born in India, and immigrated to the U.S. after completing medical school at the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2003. Dr. Kaul was awarded the Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. Her personal interests include water sports such as white water rafting, kayaking, and rowing as well as jazzercise and reading.

 

photo of Dr. Lencoski Heidi D. Lencoski — Dr. H. Lencoski completed her Bachelor of Science in Botany at Miami University inOxford, Ohio. She attended medical school at the UTHSCSA, and earned her M.D. degree in 2005. Dr. Lencoski is interested in traveling, running, reading, knitting, and cooking.

 

photo of Dr. Parker Jason A. Parker — Dr. J. Parker earned his B.M.E. degree in Music Education from Baylor University. He attended medical school at the UTHSCSA, receiving his M.D. degree in 2005. Dr. Jason Parker was awarded the Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Parker’s outside interests include the fine arts and playing cello, but he also enjoys sports such as ultimate frisbee, soccer, and basketball.

 

photo of Dr. Satterfield Tiffany M. Satterfield — Dr. T. Satterfield received her baccalaureate in Biology from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2001. She attended medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Midwestern University, and completed her D.O. degree in 2005. Dr. Satterfield’s hobbies are watersports, skiing, volleyball, and golf.

Photo of Taniesha L. Buffin Taniesha L. Buffin — Dr. T. Buffin graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans in 2002, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Med.   She earned her M.D. from Louisiana State University in New Orleans in 2006.  Dr. Buffin is interested in exercising, listening to music, cooking, and watching home improvement shows.

 
 

Photo of Melani P. Cornelius Melani P. Cornelius — Dr. M. Cornelius received her baccalaureate in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, TX in 2002.  She attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN and received her M.D. in 2006.  Dr. Cornelius’ outside interests range from traveling to art and poetry, as well as cooking and decorating.

Diaz completed a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and History at the University of California – Santa Barbara in December 2001.  She earned her M.D. from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, PR in 2006.  Dr. Diaz’ hobbies include traveling, Latin American history, watching movies, and decorating.

Kirchner graduated from Texas Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1999.  She earned a Master’s degree in Chemistry/Biology (Molecular track) from Texas A & M University in College Station, TX in 2002, and completed her M.D. at UTHSCSA in 2006.  Dr. Kirchner’s outside interests include outdoor activities, spending time with her family, and playing the piano.

 
 

Photo of Nedra L. Rice Nedra L. Rice — Dr. N. Rice has a baccalaureate in Social Work from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA, and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas in 1999. Following premed studies in at the University of Texas in Dallas, she attended UTHSCSA and received her M.D. in 2006. Dr. Rice’s hobbies are astronomy, bird watching and photography, vegetarian cooking, and refurbishing antique furniture.

 
 
Second Year Residents

Photo of Ometeotl M. Acosta Ometeotl M. Acosta — Dr. O. Acosta earned his baccalaureate in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana in 2001. He received a research grant to study the pathophysiology of hepatic encephalopathy, and subsequently earned his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2007. Dr. Acosta’s outside interests include running, playing Scrabble, and mentoring pre-med and medical students.

 
 

Photo of Yadira A. Anca Yadira A. Anca — Dr. Y. Anca received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras in 2003, and then went on to the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, earning her M.D. in 2007. Dr. Anca is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and was awarded the Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. She is interested in reading, dancing, aerobics, diving, and watching movies.

 
 

Photo of Blake A. Berryhill Blake A. Berryhill — Dr. B. Berryhill earned his baccalaureate in Biology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX in 2002. He attended medical school at Texas Tech University in Lubbock/El Paso, earning his M.D. in 2007. Dr. Berryhill is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. His hobbies include running, traveling, playing golf, and he is an Astros baseball fan.

She attended medical school at Des Moines University in Des Moines, IA, attaining her D.O. degree in 2007. Dr. Janecek’s outside interests range from reading, gardening, and running to spending time with family and friends.

Parker received her baccalaureate in French from Baylor University in Waco, TX, and after graduate studies in Microbiology attended the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, receiving her M.D. in 2007. Dr. Ashley Parker was awarded the Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Parker speaks fluent French, and enjoys swimming, jogging, mountain biking, as well as reading.

 
 

Photo of Beth L. Thai Beth L. Thai — Dr. B. Thai received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Art in Comparative Studies from Ohio State University in Columbus, OH in 2003. She attended medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, OH and earned her M.D. in 2007. Dr. Thai speaks fluent Cantonese. Her hobbies range from sports such as running, bicycling, and tennis, to reading, cultural studies, and the performing arts.

Photo of Kristin J. Brozena Kristin J. Brozena — Dr. K. Brozena graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. After working at the Texas Transplant Institute, she enrolled in the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and earned her M.D. in 2008. Dr. Brozena's hobbies include intramural softball, flag football, watching professional sports, and spending time with family and friends.

 
 

Photo of Caroline M. Gibbons Caroline M. Gibbons — Dr. C. Gibbons completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned her M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio in 2007. Dr. Gibbons completed one year of Internal Medicine residency before starting her Obstetrics & Gynecology residency in 2008. Dr. Gibbons' hobbies include scrap-booking, exercising, classic movies, listening to music, and spending time with her family.

 
 

Photo of Jennifer F. Knudtson Jennifer F. Knudtson — Dr. J. Knudtson earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004, and then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston School of Medicine, receiving her M.D. in 2008. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Knudtson's wide range of outside interests encompasses cooking as well as coaching girls' soccer teams, participating in triathlons, and running in marathons.

Lawler completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a certificate in Chinese Language and East Asian Studies at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ in 2003. Following premedical studies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, she attended the University of Connecticut Medical School in Farmington, CT, earning her M.D. in 2008. Dr. Lawler enjoys reading, cooking, as well as exercise and sports. She is proficient in Mandarin Chinese.

She attended medical school at the University of Texas at Houston and was awarded her M.D. degree in 2008. Dr. Remsing's hobbies include painting, playing the violin, swimming, and working outside.

Following premedical studies at St. Philip's College in San Antonio, TX, she attended the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and received her M.D. in 2008. Dr. Van de Putte enjoys singing, playing piano and guitar, and she likes to cook.
