Mini-Medical School concludes April 25
"Living with Illness," the final
session of the Health Science Center's Mini-Medical School, will
be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in lecture hall 3.102B next
to the Briscoe Library.
During the event, patients with heart and brain
disease will share accounts of how they learned to live with
their illnesses. Health professionals who work with chronically
or terminally ill patients will contribute personal
perspectives.
The course is free to the public. To register,

Research Day set for May 2
Research Day, an annual event in which young
researchers from the Department of Medicine showcase their work,
begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, in the lecture hall foyer with
poster presentations. Oral presentations start at noon in room
209L in the Medical School.
The event also will include Dr. David Ho,
director and professor at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center
in New York. Dr. Ho will discuss "Viral and Lymphocyte
Dynamics in HIV Infection" from 4 to 5 p.m. in lecture hall
3.102B near the Briscoe Library. An awards presentation and
reception will follow in the lecture hall foyer. Health Science
Center faculty, staff and

HSC pet clinic closed May 3-5
The Health Science Center's private pet clinic
will be closed May 3-5. For more information, call 7-6161.
Outback Night to benefit March of Dimes
Health Science Center faculty and staff are
invited to attend Outback Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May
10, in the courtyard.
The cost is $11 per person for a sirloin steak
or grilled chicken, one side item, Caesar salad, bread, a
beverage and cheese-cake. Proceeds from the event benefit the
March of Dimes organization. Tickets can be purchased from a
March of Dimes HealthWalk department representative or by
contacting Anna Uriegas by e-mail at uriegas@uthscsa.edu.
HSC blood drive planned for May 9-11
The Health Science Center will hold a blood
drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9-11 in the student lounge area
on the third floor of the Medical School. Free cholesterol
screening will be included, plus membership in the Blood
