Spring graduations nearing for Health Science Center seniors
More than 620 students are expected to graduate in May from the
Ph.D., master's, baccalaureate and other advanced programs offered at
the Health Science Center. Here are the commencement times, dates,
speakers and approximate number of graduates for each school.
- Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences: 5 p.m. Friday,
May 26, UTHSC Auditorium, 7703 Floyd Curl; speaker: Dr. Catherine
Woteki, undersecretary for food safety, Office of the Secretary,
U.S. Department of Agriculture; 80 graduates
- Dental School: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, Laurie
Auditorium, Trinity University, 715 Stadium Drive; speaker: Dr.
John Greene, dean emeritus, Dental School, The University of
California, San Francisco; 90 graduates
- School of Nursing: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 27, Laurie
Auditorium, Trinity University; speaker: Dr. Juliet V. Garcia,
president, The University of Texas at Brownsville; 145 graduates.
The School of Nursing is graduating its first group of Bachelor of
Science in Nursing students who took courses offered at Sul Ross
State University Rio Grande College in Del Rio.
- School of Allied Health Sciences: 4 p.m. Saturday, May
27, Laurie Auditorium, Trinity University; speaker: Dr. Rumaldo Z.
Suarez, dean, College of Health Professions, Southwest Texas State
University; 115 graduates
- Medical School: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, Laurie
Auditorium, Trinity University; speaker: Dr. Abraham Verghese,
professor of internal medicine, Texas Tech University Health
Sciences Center at El Paso; 196 graduates
