OF NOTECall for picnic volunteers"Freedom 2000," the Health Science Center's annual Independence Day picnic, will be held Friday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the courtyard and auditorium foyer. Volunteers are needed at various times to cook, serve food and drinks, wrap hot dogs and help clean up. Parking committee meetingThe Health Science Center Parking and Traffic Safety Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, in the student services conference room, 348L. Dr. Richard King, physiology, chairman of the committee, invites the university community to attend the open business portion of the meeting. Individuals who wish to address the committee or to have an item discussed may do so provided they contact the chairman before the meeting so the item can be placed on the agenda. Appeals for citations are discussed at the end of the regular business meeting in closed session. Only the individual appealing the citation is allowed in the room with the committee during the process. Discussions and votes on citation appeals are closed to the public. To have an item placed on the agenda, contact Dr. King at ext. 7-4342 or kingr@uthscsa.edu. Last chance to update ZIP codesThe Health Science Center's new ZIP code, 78229-3900, becomes final July 1. From that date all stationery (letterhead, envelopes and business cards) and all incoming Health Science Center mail must carry the new ZIP code, which went into effect starting July 1999. Any departments that have not already updated their mailing lists and stationery should do so immediately. All routine correspondents and journal and magazine subscription offices need to be notified of the new ZIP code. Web sites and autosignature addresses must be changed as well. Technology training classes scheduledThe Technology Training Office has scheduled the following classes for the upcoming week. Three classes will be held Tuesday, June 20: MS PowerPoint 2000-1, from 8:30 a.m. to noon; MS PowerPoint 2000-2, from 1 p.m. to 4:40; and LYNX Transfer of Funds, from 9 a.m. to 10. Classes offered on June 21 are MS Excel 2000-3, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and MS Excel 2000-4, from 1 p.m. to 4:40. LYNX Payroll will be taught from 9 a.m. to 11:30 on June 22.
