OF NOTEService award nominations soughtThe selection committee for the annual Presidential Awards for Excellence in Service has called for the submission of nominations for 2000. The Excellence in Service Awards recognize classified and administrative and professional employees whose work is above and beyond normal job requirements. Up to five winners may be chosen each year; each will receive a recognition plaque and $1,000. This year you can complete and submit the nomination online from Human Resources' Web page. A hard copy of the form also is available from the Employee Development and Training Office. Nominations are due Sept. 29. City to host Veterans Wheelchair GamesMore than 600 military veterans from the United States, Puerto Rico and Great Britain will participate in the 20th National Veterans Wheelchair Games July 4-8 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The athletes will compete in track and field events, basketball, rugby, archery and many other sports. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
