Low Vision Expo 2001
Ed Cristal (standing behind table), owner of Cristal Vision, demonstrates some of the latest in vision enhancement technology for attendees of the Low Vision Expo 2001. The expo was held March 24 at the McDermott and Allied Health/Research buildings. Forty-seven booths provided information on the latest in technology for the visually impaired. New advances include magnification systems, text-to-speech recognition systems and computer software. The expo also featured resources such as books on tape and information on assisted telephone and transportation services. The purpose of the annual event is to provide resources that can help people with decreased vision maintain their independence.
