Third-year medical students learn safety, rescue procedures

San Antonio firefighters and EMS personnel carry a car accident victim to safety during the vehicle extrication demonstration held June 21 on campus. San Antonio and Leon Valley emergency personnel, San Antonio Airlife, and faculty and staff from the Health Science Center's EMT department simulated the scene of a car accident to demonstrate safety and rescue procedures to third-year medical students. The goal of the demonstration was to show the students what their patients might experience before arriving at the hospital. Students learned about the resources available to them and gained a better understanding of pre-hospital medicine.
