In Memoriam
William Salata

William
Salata,
employee
development
and training,
died Saturday,
Sept. 8 after a
long and
courageous
battle with
cancer.
Salata came to
the Health
Science
Center after retiring from the United States Air Force
as a captain with 20 years of service. He
served with distinction and was proud of
his military record. Salata earned a
master's degree in public administration
from Golden Gate University in San
Francisco. In 1994 he began working in
the office of educational resources'
Teleconference Network of Texas. In
1996, he transferred to the human
resources office and served as training
manager. Anthony Ramirez, director of
human resources, said Salata was
innovative and creative and was an
effective training professional.
A memorial service celebrating the life
of William Salata will take place at 7
p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at Mission Park
Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry
Ridge Drive. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that memorial
contributions be made to the Cancer
Therapy and Research Center, 4450
Medical Drive,
San Antonio, TX 78229.
