Of Note'Win a Jaguar to Save a Jaguar' Want a one-in-350 chance at winning a brand new Jaguar automobile? Try your luck by participating in the "Win a Jaguar to Save a Jaguar" event and raffle benefiting Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Inc. (WRR). Dr. Ron Grimwood, professor in the department of medicine and chair of this year's event, said only 350 tickets, raffling off a 2002 X-Type Jaguar automobile, will be sold. Tickets are $250 and include a chance at winning the Jaguar and admission for two to the WRR's 12th annual benefit from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, 555 Funston. WRR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned, injured and displaced wildlife. WRR also provides permanent care for non-indigenous wild animals that have been victimized by the exotic pet trade, rescued from roadside zoos, or retired from research facilities. UTHSC Spurs Night is April 8 The special events council invites the university community to attend UTHSC Spurs Night at the Alamodome April 8. Take a co-worker, friend or family member to see the Spurs take on the Portland Trailblazers at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $21, $30 and $41 and include a Spurs "Gotta Be There" T-shirt and a coupon for a free popcorn and soft drink. Volunteers needed for NAFSA conference The office of international services (OIS) announces that NAFSA: Association of International Educators, will host its 54th annual conference in San Antonio, May 26 through 31, at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center. OIS employees are assisting in local preparations and seek volunteers to help with hospitality. Volunteers will be responsible for answering questions about San Antonio, its restaurants and its attractions. NAFSA's goal is to promote the exchange of students and scholars to and from the United States. The association seeks to increase awareness of and support for international education in higher education government and in the community. PREF funding available to faculty Faculty members are encouraged to apply for funding from the Presidential Research Fund (PREF). The PREF, established by Dr. Francisco G. Cigarroa, Health Science Center president, provides grant support to teams of three or more investigators to support the development of programmatic, thematic and translational group research efforts for the acquisition of established extramural, peer-reviewed research funding.
