SEEMA AHUJA, MD
Department of Medicine
Dr. Seema Ahuja's work is far from simple. She studies the
biological role of dendritic cells and T cell development. Her
findings are published in the most prestigious journals
and the best scientists seek her advice and expertise.
Dr. Ahuja is considered a generous and helpful
collaborator, working with a number of scientists at the Health
Science Center. She also serves as a mentor for young trainees
at several levels. It is all part of why she loves her job.
"Every day I wake up and I want to come to work," Dr. Ahuja said. "I love my
research here and there is nothing else I'd rather do."
Dr. Ahuja joined the Health Science Center in 1996 and now works as an assistant
professor in the division of nephrology.
KARL KLOSE, PhD
Department of Microbiology
Dr. Karl Klose works in a world of mystery. He runs a high-tech
lab where science turns ideas into the future of medicine.
His research involves the cholera virus, and he is currently
developing an oral anthrax vaccine. Colleagues say he runs a
"very active, highly visible and impressively productive"
research program. But for Dr. Klose, it's all about
solving problems.
"Every day I come into work and begin the process of
discovery, " Dr. Klose said. "We are always learning something
new that has the potential to affect every person."
Dr. Klose is an assistant professor and is known as an exceptional research mentor.
He is responsible for continuously recruiting new talent to the Health Science Center.
