Allied health student earns TAPA scholarship

The Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA) awarded its prestigious Carl Fasser Scholarship to Judy Spanyers, a junior physician assistant student at the Health Science Center. Spanyers was the single recipient of the scholarship, which is open to all Texas physician assistant students.

"Judy is a dedicated student who does everything she can to excel," said Dr. Dennis Blessing, associate professor and chairman of physician assistant studies in the School of Allied Health Sciences. "She is intelligent and respected by her peers and the faculty for her mature approach to her education. I am very proud of her. She is an example of the quality of student this program attracts."

Students are selected based on demonstrated scholastic ability, commitment and understanding of the health challenges in Texas.
