Animesh Agarwal, M.D.
Originally from Plano, Texas, I received my B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University followed by my M.D. degree and Orthopaedics residency training at UTHSCSA. Following my residency, I obtained a trauma fellowship from Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, and joined the clinical faculty in 1997. I received the Alonzo J. Neufeld Award as co-author of ”Strain Rate Sensitivity of Combined Knew Ligament Injuries: A Clinical Model,“ and an Outstanding Scientific Paper Award as co-author of “A Prospective Comparison of Antegrade and Retrograde Femoral Intramedullary Nailing.” My areas of research interest include: 1) diabetes and its effects on the musculoskeletal system, 2) fracture healing, 3) biomechanis of cartilage and bone, 4) retrograde femoral nailing, 5) knee dislocations and cruciate injuries, 6) bone graft/filler substitutes, and 7) wound VAC applications.
