A native Texan, I received my undergraduate degree in Anthropology of Religion from the University of Houston before attending Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where I graduated first in my class of 200 students. I was fortunate to receive my residency training at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. My wife, who is an anesthesiologist and our 2 young sons settled in a small town in Oklahoma where we were in private practice for 8 years. I joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in San Antonio in 2002 and currently serve as the Interim Chairman and Residency Program Director. As a non-operative orthopaedist I am able to devote all of my time to running and improving the educational program here in San Antonio and to directing the Department during this transition. My research interests include prosthetics and rehabilitation of the amputee as well as utilizing electronic/computer technology to enhance resident education.

Recent presentations include:

"Current Concepts in Graduate Medical Education" given at the San Antonio Orthopaedic Society Meeting, 2005

"Changes in Graduate Medical Education: The New Residency Program" given at the Alamo Orthopaedic Society Meeting, 2005
